Do you feel overwhelmed or drained constantly? Do you get to the end of the week and feel exhausted but have not crossed anything on your To-do List? Do you think you are trying to be everyone's superhero but yourself? If this sounds familiar, you may need to take action to protect your personal energy space. Below I have listed a few ways to protect your personal energy space.

  1. Tune in to how you are genuinely feeling.

Take some time to think about your feelings and how you have been feeling over the last few weeks. Then, take a step back and observe yourself. For example, have you been suffering from headaches, abdominal pains, insomnia, or low energy levels? Listen to yourself. What is it telling you? Cultivating an awareness of your emotions is the first step to protecting your energy.

  1. Set boundaries to conserve energy.

Learn to say `that doesn't work for me, `maybe some other time, ' or simply `No thanks. Let go of people-pleasing. Drawing a line is a powerful protective measure and keeps the draining influences of others' requests at a distance.

  1. Find your safe and happy place

Try it out; visualize a place you love, where you feel secure and calm. It is a powerful tool to use when you feel overwhelmed. This place might be your cosy bed, comfy blankets, or a hiking track. Take a few minutes to sit with your eyes closed, breathe deeply, and imagine that favourite space in detail. This can recharge your battery very fast.

  1. Create a sanctuary

Create your own space where you can do the things you love in your bedroom or home. This could be cooking, crafting, reading, learning a new language, or whatever makes you feel good. Try to take time off your busy schedule to spend some time here. This can be your treasured space that you return to at the end of a hectic day and relieve stress and negative energy.

  1. Declutter your spaces.

Make sure you regularly de-clutter your home, closet, office, car, and any area you spend time in constantly. It is a powerful way to protect your energy. Clear out your junk. Get rid of anything or anyone that clutters your life. This could be getting rid of unworn clothes, old books, or furniture to minimising time on anxiety-inducing social media or people that drain your energy or give out negative energy.

  1. Build your solid social circle.

Surround yourself with people that make you feel good. This may sound selfish initially but spending more time with people who make you feel better, inspired, and excited is essential. For example, seek out colleagues with similar vibes and organise regular catchups with them or short strolls during lunch breaks. Also, reach out to family/friends who leave you feeling energized. This will allow you to protect yourself from negative people and situations easily.

  1. Visualise your protection "bubble."

Creating a barrier is a helpful practice to protect yourself from negative energy. Think about your happy place and tap into the power of visualization. Take a breath, close your eyes, and surround yourself with a protective bubble or a force field that helps to keep you safe. It is a simple and effective way to block out negative vibes.

  1. Control that ego.

How much energy do you waste reacting to external factors? For example, stop obsessing over a negative comment you have heard or read about yourself or a mistake you have made. Instead, ask yourself if the matter is worth wasting your valuable energy on.
